Mission Statement

"Covenant Community Church
exists to equip people
to know Jesus,
grow spiritually,
and go out to serve others."

“CCC exists to equip people to know Jesus.”
As an evangelical church, we believe that one of our primary purposes for existence is to share with people the good news that a life-transforming relationship with God is possible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). The Apostle Paul wrote that, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). The Apostle Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, declared about Jesus, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

We believe the first steps toward Christian maturity are accepting Jesus as Lord and becoming a part of His body, the Church. For this reason, our church regularly offers opportunities to respond to Christ’s invitation to follow him, and we intentionally provide classes and events that offer a “front door” so that people can become involved in what God is doing at CCC.

“CCC exists to equip people to grow spiritually.”
The Christian life is a journey which does not end at conversion. At CCC, we believe that God accepts us as we are, but does not leave us there. One of the main purposes of the church is providing opportunities for spiritual growth and whole-life transformation.

The author of Hebrews emphasized the importance of constantly pursuing deeper understanding of spiritual matters, saying, “let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity” (Hebrews 6:1). The Apostle Paul encouraged believers to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12) and described how Christians should work together towards spiritual growth: “…speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Ephesians 4:15-16). The Apostle Peter stated that God has “given us everything we need for a godly life,” (2 Peter 1:3) but also advised Christians to “make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love” (2 Peter 1:5-7).

Transformation and personal change is possible and an expected part of the Christian life. For this reason, our church provides programming designed to help people grow in their faith and their knowledge of God, so that together we might grow towards Christian maturity.

“CCC exists to equip people to go out to serve others.”
The Christian gospel is not a doctrine of self-help, but one that leads to selfless service of others, both inside and outside the church. The process of Christian discipleship leads believers to look for how they might share with others the grace they have been given.

Jesus declared that the second greatest commandment (second only to the command to “Love God”) is “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). He taught that his followers should not seek personal glory, but that “whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:43-45). The Apostle Paul taught that the purpose of church leadership is to “equip [God’s] people for works of service” (Ephesians 4:12). Elsewhere, he encouraged the church to “not become weary in doing good… as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people” (Galatians 6:9-10).

Mature followers of Jesus look for ways to serve other people and benefit the world around them. We believe that the purpose of Covenant Community Church is to equip people to make a journey of spiritual transformation that begins with being introduced to Jesus and culminates in the pouring out of oneself for the sake of others.
